The Green Bay Packers are bringing back defensive lineman Jonathan Ford, a 2022 seventh-round pick draft pick, by claiming him off waivers from the Chicago Bears.
Ford (6-5, 346) spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons and part of the 2024 season with the Packers but did not appear in a game. He played the last two seasons with the Bears, playing 173 snaps on defense and 15 on special teams across 12 games, including eight games in 2025. He produced 13 tackles, including a tackle for loss.

The Bears waived Ford on Saturday.
No corresponding roster move will need to be made to add Ford, who still needs to pass a physical to join the Packers’ 53-man roster. The team placed Kristian Welch on injured reserve last week, opening a roster move.
The Packers, who just gave up 307 rushing yards to the Baltimore Ravens, are desperate for answers at defensive tackle. Jordon Riley, who was signed off the practice squad of the New York Giants, suffered an Achilles injury against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday and will miss the rest of the season. He is expected to go on injured reserve.
Ford will join a defensive tackle group that includes Colby Wooden, Karl Brooks, Quinton Bohanna and rookies Warren Brinson and Nazir Stackhouse.
Ford was the 234th overall pick in the 2022 draft.
