Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon may not say a lot, but when he does speak, Harmon tries to send a message.
The standout rookie from Oregon sent a clear message to his team after the loss to the Cleveland Browns, which puts the Steelers on the brink of missing the playoffs.
Before the team’s Week 18 clash with the Baltimore Ravens to decide who heads to the playoffs, Harmon’s message to the team is to never take a loss too seriously while never fully reveling in a win, either.
“I always try to say, ‘don’t let no loss get to your heart and don’t let no win get to your head.’ That’s how I approach it,” Harmon said. “Play ball. This is our season on the line. We’ve got to go in there and try to stop that man [Henry].”
Across the locker room, the Steelers seem confident in their ability to win. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers noted the team has done this before. Linebacker Patrick Queen added that any competitor has to be wired for the type of matchup they will face this week against the Ravens.
Meanwhile, Malik Harrison has seen the matchup from the other side as a member of the Ravens for four seasons. He knows how important it is to both sides, with added stakes this time around.
“I’ve been in this rivalry for six years, and it feels like every year it comes down to this game,” Harrison said. “I know how important this game is for the city of Pittsburgh and just for us to prove that we’re the Pittsburgh Steelers and we can make a run in these playoffs.”
The Steelers will get their shot on Sunday Night Football, but will be shorthanded without wide receiver DK Metcalf and potentially others. Even still, the Steelers are looking to clinch a playoff spot and their first division title since 2020.
