A big decision by the LA Chargers in Week 18 could impact the Jacksonville Jaguars’ playoff seeding.

Chargers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters on Monday that quarterback Justin Herbert will not play in Week 18 against Denver.

The AFC West title is no longer in reach for the Chargers, and they have already locked up a playoff spot. LA could be the fifth, sixth, or seventh seed depending on how Week 18 plays out.

So why does this matter for the Jaguars?

Jacksonville is still in the mix for the AFC’s No. 1 seed. In order to earn the top spot, the Jaguars have to defeat the Titans, the Patriots need to lose to Miami, and the Broncos have to lose to the Chargers.

The Jaguars now need the Chargers to defeat the Broncos without Herbert under center.

Along with chasing the No. 1 seed, the Jaguars still have to secure the AFC South division title as well. They can accomplish that with a win over Tennessee or a Houston loss to Indianapolis.
