Texas A&M running back EJ Smith, the son of Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith, has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Smith announced his NFL Draft intentions in an Instagram post on Monday, just over one week after Texas A&M’s season ended with a 10-3 loss to Miami in the CFP first round.

“I feel blessed to have grown alongside this game and thankful for every opportunity it has given me,” he wrote. “I’m excited to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft and continue my football journey at the next level.”

Emmitt Smith shared a comment on his son’s post.

“These are exciting times for our son. I pray he has an opportunity to live out his dream,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion wrote.

EJ Smith, a sixth-year senior, played four seasons at Stanford from 2020-23 before transferring to play the past two seasons at Texas A&M.

This past season, Smith recorded 44 rushes for 205 yards and four touchdowns, along with four catches for 18 yards. He posted a similar 207 rushing yards on 54 carries in his first season at A&M in 2024.

For his collegiate career, Smith rushed for 969 yards and nine touchdowns on 207 attempts. He also recorded 71 receptions for 470 yards and one touchdown.

The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh from April 23-25.
