The Dallas Cowboys waived cornerback Trevon Diggs on Tuesday, a person familiar with the move confirmed to The Dallas Morning News.
Diggs, 27, appeared in eight games this season in what has been a tumultuous few months for the former All-Pro. Diggs missed two months with knee soreness/swelling and a concussion he suffered at his home.
The Cowboys signed Diggs to a massive five-year, $97 million extension in 2023. He played in only 21 games and had three interceptions after signing it.
Diggs will now pass through the waiver claim process. If he goes unclaimed, he will become a free agent.

Could a reunion with Micah Parsons in Green Bay or defensive backs coach Al Harris in Chicago be in his future? Here’s some reaction to the move from around social media:
Trevon Diggs just called me to tell me the #Cowboys have released him.
While he says he will miss his time in Dallas, he assures me he is healthy and motivated as he looks to join another team looking for another piece to add this postseason.

If a team were to claim Trevon Diggs off of waivers, it would be on the hook for the $472K he is due in base salary for Week 18, plus $58,823 if he is active this week.
Diggs has no guaranteed money on his deal beyond this season.

I fully realize how talented Trevon Diggs is. But he hasn’t been the same after his knee surgeries and his heart wasn’t in playing for the 2025 Cowboys, especially after his guy Micah was traded. So … Jerry just cut him, even before the final game.
