The work of a NFL General Manager is unending.
While players know this weekend is the season finale for each team, a team’s GM, such as Adam Peters of the Washington Commanders, is still hard at work, looking for players and working them out. Thus, the Commanders worked out six players on Monday.

Here are those six players:
When a team is only 4-12, a GM such as Peters needs to keep digging, mining, looking for a player that can fill a role for his particular team. In the case of Peters and the Commanders, Washington has lost 10 of its last 11 games. Teams that have lost nearly all of their previous 11 games need help…lots of help…and as quickly as possible.
But playoff teams are still heavily engaged in the practice as well. For instance, they have players still getting injured, some even lost for the playoffs. They need a player now to either sign to their active roster or replace a practice squad player who is being elevated to the active roster due to the previously mentioned injury.
Why are the Commanders working out players going into their Week 18 season finale? Peters knows the Commanders’ roster is in trouble, so he is working tirelessly, already evaluating players for his 90-man roster, which he can begin assembling as soon as this dreadful season concludes. When the season concludes, teams can sign players who are not currently on an NFL team’s roster.

Peters and other GMs also want to work out players who have been released from other teams’ practice squads. Those players have been in camps, working out all season, and most are hungry to get back with another NFL team. In addition, Peters and Commanders head coach Dan Quinn could find a couple of players who are now healthy and have a better workout, and the Commanders would sign them to a futures contract in January.
