SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed former University of Florida football coach and TV analyst Urban Meyer to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees.
In an announcement Tuesday, DeSantis also reappointed trustees Mark Bauerlein and Debra Jenks for another term.
Meyer was head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and The Ohio State University, where he won a national championship in 2014, and the University of Florida, where he won two national championships in 2006 and 2008.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Cincinnati and his master’s degree in sports administration from The Ohio State University.
Bauerlein is a contributing editor at First Things Magazine and professor emeritus of English at Emory University. Previously, he served as the director of the Office of Research and Analysis at the National Endowment for the Arts.
Bauerlein earned his doctorate in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Jenks is a partner and attorney at Jenks & Harvey, LLP in West Palm Beach, specializing in securities arbitration, registration, regulation and litigation. She also serves as a commissioner on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.
Jenks earned her bachelor’s degree from New College of Florida and her juris doctor from Lewis and Clark Law School.
These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
