Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear he is riding with quarterback Jared Goff after a tumultuous 2025 NFL season. The Lions entered the season with high expectations that they couldn’t live up to, getting eliminated from playoff contention on Thursday after the Minnesota Vikings beat them 23-10.

They will close out the season against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, hoping to end it on a positive note. The team has received a lot of criticism in the wake of its elimination, with some suggesting that some people must go to turn things around.

Goff has been under a lot of criticism, but Campbell doesn’t think the quarterback deserves the heat. More than that, he told critics that Goff will stick around for a while.

“Jared Goff is a stud,” Campbell said on 97.1 The Ticket, via Nolan Bianchi of the Detroit News. “He played at a very high level all season long … even better than he played the year before … I’m thankful to have him, he’s an absolute stud, he’s a pro, he’s going nowhere.”

The Lions’ offense wasn’t as explosive as in prior seasons. Ben Johnson’s departure proved a big loss for Dan Campbell’s team, and Goff couldn’t do much despite posting similar numbers to last season (4,629 yards and a 37-12 TD-INT ratio in 2024 and 4,233 yards, 33-7 TD-INT ratio through 16 games).

After posting the best season in franchise history (15-2), Detroit looked poised to make it to the Super Bowl in 2024. However, the Washington Commanders upset them at Ford Field, ending their magical story.

It seems that the team will look different next year, as several players will be leaving. The front office will have work to do to bring the team back to the top of the NFC.
