The Green Bay Packers are signing former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder to their practice squad, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The Packers are dealing with multiple injuries at the quarterback position and Ridder can provide some depth as they prepare for the postseason.

The 26-year-old has bounced around quite a bit since being traded by the Falcons in the 2024 NFL offseason. The former third-round pick opened training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals but did not make the 53-man roster.

Ridder later signed with the Minnesota Vikings in September, however, he was released in October before returning on the practice squad. The Vikings eventually cut Ridder at the start of December, and he now lands with another NFC North team.

According to Pelissero, Ridder could be elevated by the Packers for their Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Over his two seasons in Atlanta, Ridder appeared in 19 games (17 starts), passing for 3.544 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Falcons went on to sign Kirk Cousins as a free agent in 2024 and traded Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for wide receiver Rondale Moore.
