The Washington Commanders haven’t had much to celebrate during the 2025 season, but one of their biggest bright spots was the emergence of rookie running back Jacory “Wild Bill” Croskey-Merritt. He helped rejuvenate the Commanders‘ running backs’ room with the help of Chris Rodriguez Jr. after the departure of Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler’s injury.
Because of his performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, Wild Bill earned his 4th Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week Award.
Against the Cowboys, Croskey-Merritt earned his second 100-yard game of the season. He recorded a total of 105 rushing yards on 11 attempts, an average of 9.5 yards per carry, and scored two touchdowns. He was the primary reason the Commanders were able to stay in the game.
On the season, Bill has 162 carries for 776 yards and eight touchdowns, plus nine receptions for 68 yards. He’s fumbled the ball just three times this season, and he looks like the next franchise running back for the Commanders.
Washington faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 18, and Bill will be heavily relied upon again, no matter which quarterback lines up under center.
