During an appearance on the ‘Up & Adams’ podcast with Kim Adams on Jan. 1, Chargers legend and soon-to-be re-retired quarterback Philip Rivers said he’ll be rooting for the Bolts in the NFL playoffs, despite also expressing his support for up-and-coming superstar quarterbacks Drake Maye (Patriots) and Bo Nix (Broncos).

When asked by Adams about whether he will be rooting for the Chargers or Maye and Nix in the NFL playoffs now that the Colts are eliminated from making the postseason, the former North Carolina State product said without hesitation that he will be cheering for the Bolts.

“I’m pulling for the Chargers,” Rivers said. “I’m definitely pulling for the Chargers.”

Rivers continued by describing his awe at the progress shown by both Maye and Nix throughout their successful seasons, but reiterated that he is still pulling for the team he played 16 seasons for when the franchise was in San Diego.

“I do pull for quarterbacks. You pull for those guys that you get to meet,” Rivers said. “Bo (Nix) and Drake (Maye), both will be easy to pull for, but I’ll be pulling for the Chargers like crazy.”

Rivers, who will not start during the Colts’ Week 18 matchup against the Texans (11-5) on Sunday is expected to announce his official re-retirement following the game.

As for the Chargers (11-5), who will be going to the postseason, they will play the Broncos (13-3) from Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Jan. 4, at 1:35 p.m. PT on CBS. Their playoff opponent is still to be determined by the results of both their own and other games this weekend.
