Indianapolis Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson remains optimistic about what’s ahead.

Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Anthony Richardson will remain on injured reserve in Week 18.

Head coach Shane Steichen made that announcement on Wednesday.

As Richardson recovers from an orbital fracture, his vision is still not quite where it needs to be.

Richardson has been on injured reserve since Oct. 12th. He will finish his third NFL season having appeared in two games — early-season blowout victories for the Colts — playing 12 total snaps.

This season is not what Richardson had hoped it would be, but he remains optimistic in what’s ahead.

“Oh, yeah,” Richardson said, via ESPN, when asked if he still has high hopes. “No doubt. If I’ve still got a chance to play football, then it’s all out there.”

Richardson’s talent has always been evident, but refinement was needed, and the 2025 season was supposed to afford him additional time to develop as Daniel Jones’ backup. But the eye injury derailed that.

The Colts will now enter an offseason filled with questions, including what’s next for Richardson.

The 2026 season is the final year of his rookie deal. The Colts have to decide this offseason whether or not to pick up his fifth-year option for the 2027 season.

Early reports suggest that the Colts want to bring Jones back. So what does that mean for Richardson? Will he be a backup again, or will the Colts look to trade the young quarterback in order to land some draft capital in return?
