Cleveland Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett did not reveal his exact feelings on Kevin Stefanski or the head coach’s future with the franchise, but he promised that he will if the higher-ups within the organization come asking after his opinion.
Garrett spoke with media members on Friday, January 2 ahead of the team’s final game of the year, during which he will pursue the NFL‘s single-season sack record. He currently has 22 sacks to his credit and needs a half-sack to tie, or a full sack to surpass, T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers and retired pass-rusher Michael Strahan who share the all-time mark of 22.5 sacks.
“If they ask me, I give my opinion on whatever they ask me about,” Garrett said in response to a question on whether he weighed in with regards to Stefanski’s status in Cleveland. “But I play football, and that’s what I like to keep my focus on.”

Stefanski is a two-time NFL Coach of the Year award winner (2020, 2023), and the Browns made the playoffs in each of those campaigns. However, Stefanski has a record of just 44-56 across six years in Cleveland, along with a losing mark in the playoffs (1-2).
Further complicating the situation is that the Browns are 7-26 since the start of 2024 and the offense, which is Stefanski’s area of expertise as a former quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, is looking at more or less a full rebuild starting in the offseason.
Reporters eventually put the specific question to Garrett of whether he would like to have Stefanski back as the locker room leader next year.
“I want things to be successful,” Garrett responded. “However that looks.”
