The regular season is almost over for the Buffalo Bills. They’ve got just one final game left on the schedule there. While it’s still possible that they could move up in the seeding and end up with a home game, it’s pretty unlikely. So their final game in the building that they’ve called home since the 70’s is looming. Unfortunately, not all of the players will be able to say they played in it.

Injuries will keep at least 3 players on the sidelines for the last game

This could be one of the most historic games to ever be played at Highmark Stadium, and there have been plenty of them. They’ve seen playoff games, incredibly memorable snow games, and even what was once considered the greatest comeback of all time in the NFL. But to be able to say that you played there at the last game ever is something to brag about.

While they’ll still be able to cheer on their team, Jordan Poyer, DaQuan Jones, and Terrel Bernard will not be able to take a single snap in that game. Every one of them has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

As you can see, Joey Bosa, Dalton Kincaid, and Jordan Phillips might also miss this weekend.

Some players might not play to get healthy for the playoffs

Another factor that might keep players out of this weekend’s game is the opportunity to let them heal up for the playoffs. The Bills have already clinched a place in the playoffs this year. They’ve punched their ticket, so why would you even bother to play them?

It would make sense to sit Josh Allen for most of the game on Sunday. There isn’t a whole lot of upside to keeping him in the game and he could really benefit from a week without any stress on this recent foot injury. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the field for at least one play to keep his starting streak alive.

It also wouldn’t be surprising to see James Cook on the sidelines. He’s the engine to that Bills offense and they’re going to need him to be at his healthiest when they take on some of the best teams in the NFL when the playoffs start.

Remember the first time the Bills played the Jets this season?

The Bills triumphed over the Jets in their 130th meeting, with James Cook shining on the ground and Josh Allen leading the charge despite a brief injury scare.
