The Seattle Seahawks aren’t expecting rookie wide receiver Tory Horton to return from his shin injury this season, head coach Mike Macdonald said during his media availability on Friday.

Seahawks-49ers Injury Report: Shaheed to play; Cross ruled out

Horton, a fifth-round draft pick out of Colorado State, had 13 catches for 161 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. The speedy wideout also had 16 punt returns for 238 yards, including a franchise-record 95-yard punt return touchdown.

Horton got injured in a Week 9 win over the Washington Commanders and was later placed on injured reserve a few weeks later.

“It just takes a long time to heal,” Macdonald said. “And so put it this way, we’re planning on not having him. If something happens, which we’re not counting on, and he’s able to come back, then that’s great. But right now we’re planning on not having him. It just needs time and rest.

“It’s unfortunate, but these things happen. So we’re with him. He’s doing a great job. We’re just not gonna have him right now.”
