COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV) – One of Missouri’s top defenders in 2025 is headed to the NFL Draft.
Redshirt sophomore linebacker Josiah Trotter declared for the draft after one season with the Tigers.
“After much prayer and reflection, I will be foregoing my last two years of eligibility and declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft to pursue a lifelong dream,” Trotter said in a statement shared on social media.
Trotter was a First Team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches and was a Second Team selection by the Associated Press after joining Mizzou following two seasons in the West Virginia program.
He was Mizzou’s team leader in tackles with 84. Forty-three of the tackles were solo, and he was second among Tigers’ in tackles for loss with 13.
ESPN NFL Draft Expert Mel Kiper Jr. has Trotter ranked as the sixth-best draft-eligible off-ball linebacker.
His father, Jeremiah Trotter Sr., spent 11 years in the NFL and played eight of them under Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid while Reid was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Trotter’s brother, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., was a two-time All-American at Clemson and won the Super Bowl with the Eagles last year as a rookie.
