The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last two months, going 1-7 over November and December, to put themselves in a must-win position in Week 18 for a chance at their fifth straight NFC South title. Meanwhile, despite never being more than one game over .500 all season, the Panthers win the NFC South with either a victory on Saturday, or the Atlanta Falcons defeating the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Tampa Bay and Atlanta winning this weekend would create a three-way tiebreaker atop the NFC South, and the Panthers would win that tiebreaker.
Both Carolina (8-8) and Tampa Bay (7-9) are coming off losses last week. The Panthers defeated the Buccaneers, 23-20, at home in Week 16. The Buccaneers are 3-point favorites in the latest Saturday Week 18 NFL odds at FanDuel, with an over/under set at 43.5 points.Â
The NFC West scenario is far simpler, as the winner of this Saturday night game walks off the field with the trio of the divisional title, first-round playoff bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Saturday night will be a daunting challenge for Purdy against the Seahawks, though, who rank second in defensive scoring (18.1 points per game) and first in yards per pass attempt (6.1).
