Texas A&M will undergo significant roster turnover heading into the 2026 season, with several longtime contributors moving on. One of the most notable departures is veteran defensive back Tyreek Chappell, who announced that he will officially enter the 2026 NFL Draft.
Chappell shared the news on Friday on social media. The decision comes as no surprise—he previously accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, signaling that his time in Aggieland was nearing its end.
After suffering an injury in 2024, there was a slim possibility he could have applied for an additional year of eligibility, but he ultimately chose to begin his professional journey. His post served less as a formal declaration and more as a heartfelt farewell and thank-you to the 12th Man.
A five-year Aggie, Chappell was a steady and reliable presence in the secondary, primarily manning the nickel position. His absence was always noticeable, and his instincts, physicality, and experience make him an intriguing evaluation for NFL teams.
Over his career, he recorded 143 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 30 passes defended, and two interceptions, cementing himself as one of the most consistent defenders of the past half-decade.
Below is his full statement from Instagram.
The NFL Draft will take place in Pittsburgh from April 23-25.
