One of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal is off the board.
According to On3, former North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker, who led the country with 4,379 yards passing (he was the only QB to hit the 4,000-yard plateau), 34 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, has officially committed to Oklahoma State.
“BREAKING: North Texas transfer QB Drew Mestemaker has Committed to Oklahoma State, he tells @On3Sports,” On3’s Hayes Fawcett wrote on X.
Mestemaker’s decision is of no surprise to many as the move reunited him with former North Texas head coach Eric Morris, who signed a five-year deal worth more than $20 million just a few weeks ago.

“I think just the relationships that I’ve built there with coach Morris, coach Brophy and that whole staff, offense and defense,” Mestemaker told ESPN. “I think Coach Morris is the best play-caller in the nation.
“The insight he has, and the way he sees offense, and the way he makes me at quarterback comfortable in everything we are running. I feel like sets me up for success in everything that he calls.”

It was reported during the coaching cycle that if Morris left for another head coaching job, he was likely to be a package deal with Mestemaker.
The duo led the Mean Green to a 12-2 record, including a 49-47 win over San Diego State in the New Mexico Bowl. Many credit Morris for the QB’s success after making him the full-time starter this season.
Pokes Report initially reported that Mestemaker was heading to Oklahoma State for a reunion with Morris. The site even said the two sides agreed on a two-year deal with $7 million.
With Mestemaker no longer available, that leaves Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt as the No. 1-ranked QB in the portal. Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby, South Florida’s Byrum Brown, and Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola round out the 3-5 spots, respectively, in On3’s transfer portal rankings.
