Detroit Lions flop in Minnesota: Dave Birkett, Jeff Seidel analysis
Dave Birkett, Jeff Seidel talk Detroit Lions flop at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025.
The Detroit Lions added some insurance for their banged up offensive line before Sunday’s season finale against the Chicago Bears.
The Lions placed backup center Trystan Colon on injured reserve with a broken wrist and elevated offensive tackle Chris Hubbard and tight end Zach Horton from the practice squad the 53-man roster.
Hubbard has played in 103 career games and made three starts with the New York Giants last season.
The Lions ruled right tackle Penei Sewell out for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and downgraded backup Gio Manu to out when they decided not to activate him off injured reserve.
Either Hubbard or Dan Skipper will start at right tackle in Sewell’s place.
Horton played in one game as a practice squad elevation for the Lions earlier this year, on Thanksgiving against the Green Bay Packers.
The Lions (8-8) are out of playoff contention but need to beat the Bears to avoid their first losing record since 2021.
The Bears (11-5) can clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win or a Philadelphia Eagles loss.
