Charlie Cummings provides his top player prop bets for Sunday’s Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings matchup.
Sunday’s NFL spread includes many games without playoff implications. This matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings is one such game; the Packers have clinched the final wild-card spot and cannot move up in the standings. This means rest and recovery all around, and creates an interesting player prop market.
Minnesota is a 10.5-point home favorite and -575 on the moneyline, while Green Bay is +425 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 37.5 points. Let’s dig into the player props for this Packers-Vikings matchup.
Packers vs. Vikings Best Prop Bets
J.J. McCarthy 200+ Passing Yards (+127)
It has been a trying season for J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings. After effectively taking a redshirt in his rookie season, McCarthy has stumbled through nine starts, completing only 57.3% of his passes while throwing more picks than touchdowns. It’s been so rough that rumors are running around about possible changes under center in the offseason. This leaves “Nine” with a chance to leave a good final impression for the season.
Luckily for him, these Packers have nothing to play for and will be giving their starters a lot of rest. The Vikings have also been vocal about getting Justin Jefferson over the 1,000-yard threshold in this one. It means a lot of pass plays, and the Vikings might as well let McCarthy cut it loose.
Justin Jefferson 6+ Receptions (-119)
Why not double down on the “feed Jettas” game plan? McCarthy will lock on to Jefferson early, and I expect them to try some screen pass looks for cheap yards. If that doesn’t do the trick, they will open the playbook to find him outside the numbers and on some slants. Jefferson has the opportunity to run his routes against a whole lot of second-teamers. Even if McCarthy misses some throws, enough volume is going to be there for Jefferson to be productive.
