This week, we asked Jacksonville Jaguars fans which team they would least like to face in the AFC playoffs.

49% of respondents chose the Houston Texans, and another 42% chose a team from the AFC East (the Bills or the Patriots).

The Jaguars and the Texans are both undefeated (7-0) since the last time they matched up against each other in Week 10. Houston backup quarterback Davis Mills pulled off a historic 19-point comeback to hand Jacksonville its worst loss under Liam Coen — yet as frustrating as the result was at the time, the current version of the Jaguars may not have come to life without that tough loss.

“Post Houston, that was a tough locker room,” Coen said the week of Christmas. “That was a tough feeling and that was gut-wrenching at the time. But I do recall Josh Hines-Allen speaking very briefly. I think Arik Armstead said a few things and then we ended it. I didn’t go on and on, and we didn’t have a lengthy post-game. We said a few things. It was from the heart, it was real. But also, I think the guys knew in that moment some things needed to change and we had to operate differently in terms of a 60-minutes mindset football game. And so, I’ll continue to look back to that game as something that has helped us and fueled us moving forward.”

The Texans boast one of the NFL’s best defenses, if not the best outright, so I can’t blame Jaguars fans for being nervous about that matchup. At least we know that the team would be highly motivated to have a different result against Houston this time around.

As for the confidence survey, 98% of fans are confident in the direction of the team — a season high, and up from 97% last week.

How wild is it that the statement “the two scariest teams in the AFC playoffs are from the AFC South” isn’t a crazy take?

Think Buffalo is the only team with a top 10 QB and a top 10 pass defense in the AFC, so they got my pick.

Crazy thing to me is that I bet Vegas would have all these teams +/- 3 points from us on a neutral field.

Truly, wide open

I’d rather play someone we haven’t matched up with yet. I feel like the more often you see another team the closer the games are. So I’d really rather not see another round vs the Texans, but I wouldn’t mind playing the Bills, Patriots or Steelers/Ravens at all.

Patriots because their head coach used to give the Jags headaches when he was in Nashville. But I would be lying if the Texans don’t also give me a twinge of anxiety. Jags are the better team, but the mental trauma of that squandered 19 point lead will do that.

Goddam Texans. After they stole our lunch money and pantsed us while frenching our girlfriend right in front of us, the Texans have won 8 straight, including wins over the Bills, Chiefs and Chargers. 19 f***ing points! IN ONE F***ING QUARTER! We shouldn’t see them till the AFC title game. Maybe by then the nightmares will have subsided.

I would say/text Houston is the team that gives me the most pause, however, that selfsame trepidation, if you will, is definitely reciprocated on the Texans end, as well. Remember, after the bitter loss to them, the Jaguars have since been nothing short of a bunch of nasty hombres, as if to say “let’s have a rubber match.” GET EM’, GENTS!

I want the Texans in the first round. I want to see our revenge game in person.
