Packers trail Minnesota at halftime 13-0

  • January 4, 2026

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WSAW) – The Vikings lead the Packers at halftime 13-0. Green Bay is resting several starters on offense and defense as they’re locked into the #7 seed in the NFC. Clayton Tune made his first start as a Packer at quarterback in the game.

The Vikings received the ball to start the game and promptly drove the field, finishing with a 43-yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.

Green Bay would punt on its first two possessions, unable to score in the opening quarter. Minnesota led 3-0 after the first.

The Packers would punt to start the second quarter as well. However, Green Bay’s defense held up their end of the bargain. Green Bay forced consecutive punts following Minnesota’s opening drive, keeping them in the game.

However, the Vikings went on a lengthy drive in the middle of the frame. Minnesota’s 14-play drive ultimately ended with Will Reichard’s second field goal of the game as the Vikings extended the lead to 6-0.

Green Bay went three and out in their final true drive of the half, giving the Vikings a shot at a two-minute drill before the break. J.J. McCarthy engineered the drive perfectly, punctuating it with a C.J. Ham touchdown run, giving Minnesota their first touchdown of the game. The extra point made it 13-0 Minnesota at the break.

Tune finished the first half 2/5 for 10 yards. Chris Brooks led the Packers in rushing with 23 yards.
