Well, that was fast.
After less than three weeks on the job, Oregon State football defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield is leaving the Beavers to coach defensive ends at Utah.
Breckterfield is an OSU alum and one of the program’s all-time great defensive players. He joined JaMarcus Shephard’s staff with an official announcement on Dec. 17.
“I see it as an honor and a privilege to have Inoke Breckterfield join our staff at Oregon State University,” Shephard said in a news release when Breckterfield was hired. “He stands as the pillar of what success looks like in terms of how you play the game at this university, He has the ability to recruit, develop and inspire young men across college football and has been that pillar of success at the various programs he has been at in his career.”
OSU will now be in search of a new defensive line coach. It is unclear whether Breckterfield or Utah will be responsible for a buyout of his newly minted contract with the Beavers, assuming that contract was signed and finalized prior to his move to coach the Utes.
Breckterfield is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and was a third team All-American for the Beavers in 1998.
