It is expected the staff will take two or three linemen in the portal and they got off to a good start on Sunday. Texas lineman Connor Stroh.

Last season Stroh started five games for the Longhorns at guard. He appeared in 10 games for Texas last season.

Jason Suchomel who covers Texas had this to say about Stroh:

“Stroh’s biggest strength is his size, strength and his ability to run block at the point of attack. Listed at 6-7 and 341 pounds, Stroh came to Texas in a highly-contested recruiting battle between the Longhorns and Texas A&M, so he was a valued prospect coming out of high school. As a recruit, there was some thought that he could play tackle at the next level but Stroh doesn’t have the quickness or the footwork for those outside spots. He’s much better suited as an interior line prospect. He started five games for Texas in 2025.”

Based on people I spoke with Stroh is going to have a chance to start in 2026.

First commitment news coming in

The first round of recruits are finishing their official visits from Saturday and there is good news on the way.

The first commitment of the weekend is in the books with more likely coming.

UAB interior lineman Eamon Smalls gave the staff his verbal commitment. Smalls arrived in Lawrence on his visit Saturday. He had been talking with Kansas general manager Rob Ianello and defensive line coach Jim Panagos as they were working with his agent group.

Smalls had a big year from his defensive tackle spot recording 50 tackles and 3.5 TFL. He was the highest rated defensive lineman for UAB scoring 68.8 and playing 416 snaps. He had a tackling grade of 69.6.

There could be more news coming and some of it from the offensive side. A prediction has been logged for Kansas to land running back Jalen Dupree.
