The Atlanta Falcons handed Raheem Morris his walking papers on Sunday, along with GM Terry Fontenot, and the Falcons next head coach odds opened soon after.

The Falcons are also creating a new president of football role, with rumors pointing to former Atlanta QB Matt Ryan being tabbed for the position.

It all points to a long-term search for the next Falcons sideline boss, which goes hand-in-glove with Klint Kubiak being favored, given he’s still calling the plays for the top-seeded Seattle Seahawks.

Let’s look at the latest Atlanta Falcons next head coach odds.

Falcons next head coach favoritesKlint Kubiak

The son of former Super Bowl-winning head coach Gary Kubiak, Klint Kubiak is one of the fastest-rising stars in the NFL coaching world. His recent results with Brock Purdy, Kirk Cousins, and now Sam Darnold, have opened eyes.

The 38-year-old has spent only one season in Seattle, but he took that offense from 18th to third in points per game year-over-year.

He had a similar impact with the Broncos in 2022 after Nathaniel Hackett was dismissed, taking an offense averaging a league-worst 13.8 points per game from Weeks 1-13 to 24.2 points per game down the stretch, good for 11th in the NFL.

Raheem Morris had prior head coaching experience before taking the Atlanta job, something that Kubiak lacks. However, the previous five full-time head coaches that followed in the footsteps of Dan Reeves (Jim Mora, Bobby Petrino, Mike Smith, Dan Quinn, and Arthur Smith) had no prior experience at the job.

Kevin Stefanski

Two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski will surely be a hot commodity in the NFL rumor mill this offseason in spite of his 8-26 record across the last two seasons.

Stefanski led the Browns to two of their three playoff appearances since 1999, and oversaw the new-old franchise’s first postseason win in 2020.

He failed to stabilize the revolving door situation at quarterback for Cleveland, as the team dealt with the Deshaun Watson disaster. The Falcons, who have had their fair share of QB drama since Matt Ryan retired, could view that as a black mark.

🏈 Mike McCarthy

If the Falcons are looking to turn over a new leaf, they could skew old and go with veteran head coach Mike McCarthy, who sat out this season after leaving the Dallas Cowboys at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

It wouldn’t be a flashy hire, but his 174-122-2 career record is nothing to sneeze at, nor is his 2010 championship ring. McCarthy has 11 double-digit win seasons under his belt, and the Falcons could use one of those after enduring a eighth straight losing season.

Recent Falcons coaching history

The Falcons have had 13 full-time head coaches since being founded in 1966. Mike Smith (2008-14) boasts the highest winning percentage (.589), but he was unable to lead the franchise to the Super Bowl.

Dan Reeves (1997-2003) took the team to Super Bowl XXXIII, while Dan Quinn (2015-20) guided Atlanta to Super Bowl LI. Neither was able to win the franchise’s first championship, with the Falcons’ famous 28-3 blown lead in the latter serving as a running gag during the team’s current eight-year run of ineptitude.
