Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will be back as the leader of the team in 2026, team president Mike Brown confirmed on Monday. The Bengals’ third consecutive season without making the playoffs fueled speculation that a change could be made, but Brown reiterated his support for Taylor and director of player personnel Duke Tobin in a statement.”Our focus is on building a team that can consistently compete at the highest level, with the goal of winning championships,” Brown said. “After thoughtful consideration, I am confident that Duke Tobin and Zac Taylor are the right leaders to guide us forward. They have proven they can build and lead teams that compete for championships. We trust their plans and expect to return to our desired levels of success.” Speaking on Monday, Taylor said he was appreciative of Brown’s comments and expects the Bengals to make a dramatic turnaround from this season’s 6-11 mark.“We are on a path to really good things next year,” Taylor said. “I think everybody that exited this building today feels that – players, coaches, everybody involved with this thing. This season was a disappointment, it didn’t go the way we wanted, but I’m already reenergized to get working on 2026.”As the Bengals head into 2026, a top priority will be adding outside help to a defense that finished the season 30th in the NFL in points allowed. The Bengals’ defense did show some improvement over the final four games, allowing 19.7 points per game. That stretch included wins over the Dolphins and Cardinals, as well as home losses to the Ravens and Browns.“I just feel like the energy of this group and the talent that we have, and the progress that a lot of these guys made, that we’ve got a chance to be back in the conversation of where we belong these last couple of years, and have fallen short of that,” Taylor said.Taylor is 52-63-1 in seven seasons as Bengals head coach, with AFC Championship Game appearances during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The Bengals also made the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, losing to the Los Angeles Rams.
