The Atlanta Falcons have requested an interview with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for their vacant head coaching position, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on social media Monday.

Kubiak, who’s in his first season leading Seattle’s offense, is eligible to participate in virtual interviews with teams this week since the Seahawks earned a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Falcons will become eligible to interview him on Wednesday.
Pelissero reported the Falcons have also requested an interview with Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
Atlanta fired second-year head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot on Sunday following an 8-9 campaign. The Falcons went 16-18 in two seasons under Morris.
The 38-year-old Kubiak was expected to be a candidate for open head coaching jobs after a solid first year with the NFC West champion Seahawks and new starting quarterback Sam Darnold.
Under Kubiak, the Seahawks ranked third in the league in scoring (28.4 points per game) and tied for seventh in yards (351.4 per game) this season.
They showed major improvements in the run game, making the jump from 28th in the league at 95.7 yards per game last season to tied for 10th in the league at 123.3 yards per game, and on the offensive line, where they tied for the fifth-least sacks allowed per game (1.6) this year.
Those efforts, paired with Seattle’s stellar defense and strong special teams unit, helped the team win a franchise-record 14 games and claim the NFC’s No. 1 seed for the postseason.
Kubiak is in his third overall season as an NFL offensive coordinator (also 2021 with Minnesota and 2024 with New Orleans). He has yet to land a head coaching job in the NFL, but his dad, Gary, was a head coach for 10 seasons with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos and won a Super Bowl with Denver in 2015.
