The #Browns have requested permission to interview #Seahawks DC Aden Durde for their vacant HC job, source said.
The native of England came to the NFL as a #Cowboys coaching intern and has risen quickly.

The Seattle Seahawks are looking like victims of their own success. While the players are getting an extra week of rest due to the No. 1 seed, their coaches are busier than ever… even with non-Seahawks related matters. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is already getting plenty of requests from teams around the league to be their head coach, such as the Atlanta Falcons, but he isn’t the only Seahawks coach drawing interest.
On Tuesday afternoon, NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news the Cleveland Browns have officially requested to interview Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde for their open head coach position. Although head coach Mike Macdonald is the one who calls the plays on defense, Seattle’s success on that side of the ball can certainly be attributed to help from Durde as well.
Durde has been the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator for the last two seasons. Personally, I had some hope with Macdonald being the one who calls the plays, Durde might’ve remained a well-kept secret in the Pacific Northwest.
NFL organizations cannot deny a coach from interviewing for a position that is an upgrade, so if Durde is interested in throwing his hat in the ring with the Browns, it will be up to him.
As for Kubiak, several other teams in the league have joined the Falcons in asking permission to interview him for their vacant head coaching spots. However, according to Albert Breer, Kubiak is still figuring out what to do with the requests.
Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak has gotten requests to interview for the Giants, Cardinals, Raiders and Falcons head coaching jobs, per source. His focus is on the playoffs, so he’ll take a day or two and figure out a plan to balance all of it.
Seattle is on a bye as the NFC’s 1 seed.

Both of Seattle’s coordinators getting interview requests is a challenge the Seahawks will have to navigate during the bye week. Teams can often lose focus during this time if they are not careful, which often results in catastrophic losses. Seattle needs to find a way to balance everything, as Breer mentioned in the tweet above, in order to maximize this rare opportunity for a potential Super Bowl run.
