Last weekend, the Buffalo Bills played what is believed to be the last home game at Highmark Stadium. To celebrate the historic event, they handed out commemorative coins to the fans who were in attendance. If you were one of them, you might want to hold onto it for a little bit. That coin might be worth more than you’d think.
They are being called “I Was There” coins
The coin is a throwback to the day that Highmark Stadium first opened. On that day they handed out a similar coin along with a card that said “I Was There” when the stadium opened. The new one is a tip of the hat to the old one only this time it is the coin that said “I Was There” when the stadium closed.
I Was there
Whereas…Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York has a capacity of 70,000 spectators
And whereas…history has shown that at least 10 times that number will claim to have been in attendance in the Final Regular Season Game
Be It Known That…this card has been given only to those persons actually passing through the portals of the home of the Buffalo Bills for the commemorative game.

The coins went up for sale almost immediately the following day
They were given out on January 4th when the gates opened for the 4:25 pm game, and by Monday morning, they were already for sale online. Some of them were selling for as much as $500.

Some people are saying they didn’t get a coin
While it seems like a hefty price to get one, some people are claiming that they weren’t able to get a coin when they walked in. It’s weird to think that some people will have a coin but didn’t go to the game, and others went, but never ended up receiving a coin.
