The Seattle Seahawks signed Charles Cross to a four-year contract extension worth $104.4 million last week. Cross officially inked the deal on Tuesday. Seattle’s contract extension with their franchise left tackle should secure their identity on offense for years to come.
Cross had been scheduled to enter his fifth-year contract option next season. Talents of his stature are often disinterested in playing out the expiration of a contract. Seahawks GM John Schneider came through with a well-deserved extension that contains a whopping $40.5 million in year one of the deal.

Take a look around the Seahawks’ offense. Cross is now signed for the foreseeable future. Left guard Grey Zabel is on a rookie contract. Right tackle Abe Lucas signed an extension through 2028. Those are the most important pieces on Seattle’s offensive line.
Quarterback Sam Darnold is signed through 2027 and could sign an extension in Seattle. Rookies Elijah Arroyo and Tory Horton project as long-term contributors. The Seahawks will have a fifth-year option on Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s contract that’ll run through 2027. There’s also little reason to doubt that Schneider will sign JSN to an extension when the time comes.
Running back Kenneth Walker III is a pending free agent, but ball-carriers are rarely viewed as NFL building blocks. Walker shared the ball with Zach Charbonnet this year, who is still under contract. The other big question may surround the status of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who is drawing interest for head coaching vacancies around the league.
