FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Atlanta Falcons kicker Zane Gonzalez has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the NFL announced Wednesday.
This honor comes after the Falcons’ Week 18 win against the New Orleans Saints and marks Gonzalez’s second time receiving the recognition. He previously received it after the Falcons’ Week 12 win, which, oddly enough, was also against the Saints.
Last Sunday, Gonzalez made four field goals and an extra point to provide 13 of the Falcons’ 19 points. His kicks were good from 51 and 40 yards and twice from 38 yards.
It was the sixth time in his career that he made four field goals in a single game. The most he has ever attempted was five with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019; however, he missed one.
Gonzalez also handled kickoff duties for the Falcons last Sunday. He averaged 58 yards per boot and had two of his six kicks result in touchbacks.
