Stephen A. Smith went in on the New York Jets following another disappointing NFL season. The Jets will have the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft, with all signs pointing to them going with Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

During Wednesday’s episode of “First Take,” the veteran ESPN analyst didn’t mince words when explaining everything he would do to prevent the Jets from drafting him in April.

“I’d eat something to provoke myself to have food poisoning, where I’m like garbage before I play for the New York Jets,” Smith said. “Whatever I could do to be alive and to be ‘OK’ in the end, but to ruin their thought of ever wanting me on their roster, I would do. Damn it, I’d go back to college before I play for the Jets. They are a football atrocity. They are awful. I mean, straight garbage.”

Stephen A. Smith added that Aaron Glenn shouldn’t have kept his job after the 2025 NFL season. He continued calling the Jets “horrible,” adding that players go there to basically end their careers. The Jets posted a 7-10 record in 2023, when they started three quarterbacks (Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian) in the absence of Aaron Rodgers.

They went 5-12 in 2024 and 3-14 in 2025. The additions of Justin Fields at quarterback and Glenn as head coach didn’t work as expected. They traded star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys and cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, respectively, seemingly marking the start of something different.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson led the team in receiving yards this season, despite not playing since Week 6. The Jets have a lot of work to do to turn things around. Stephen A. Smith doesn’t think Moore should sign for that at this moment.
