Playoff football is here. The Buffalo Bills hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round on Sunday — the first time they have opened the postseason away from home since 2019.
The quarterbacks, as always, will be center stage — and as good as Josh Allen has been in the regular season, he steps his game up even more when it’s win or go home. Statistically, he’s one of the best QBs of all-time when it comes to efficiency in the playoffs.
“I wouldn’t say I take the game any differently. I think that maybe there’s an emphasis on each drive a little more and just knowing that every single drive matters in the playoffs, especially when you’re going against good teams and good quarterbacks like we’re going against this week,” said Allen. “[Offensive coordinator Joe Brady] kind of had me self-scout myself throughout the year this last week. And I came away honestly, just like god, there’s so much out there that I’ve missed.”
“This is how he is every year, this time of year. He’s very dialed in, very focused, really focused and honed in on his process and what he needs to do,” said head coach Sean McDermott.
While the Bills have enjoyed playoff success in the past, they have never won on the road under McDermott or with Allen under center. It’s a hurdle they must overcome to accomplish the ultimate goal.
“We’re not focused on what’s happened in the past,” Allen said. “We’re a completely different team than we were last year and the year before that.”
The Jaguars come into this one red hot, riding an eight-game winning streak — but the Bills have playoff experience on their side when they meet Sunday at 1 p.m.
