Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence credits teammates for success
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has set numerous records this season, but he chose to credit his teammates, not himself after the Titans win.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named one of two FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week.Â
With the weekly honor, FedEx will donate $2,000 to Feeding Northeast Florida, Jacksonville’s food bank.Â
Lawrence threw for 255 yards on 22 of 30 attempts (73.3 percent) in last week’s 41-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans that clinched the AFC South Championship. Lawrence had a 131.9 passer rating, surpassed 4,000 yards for the third time in five years and threw three touchdown passes to give him 29 for the season.Â
Lawrence also set the franchise record for most total touchdowns with 38 and passed Blake Bortles for second behind Mark Brunell in career passing yards.Â
FedEx cites two skill position players per week, with fans able to vote. The other player from last week’s games is backup Buffalo quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns in a 31-3 victory over the New York Jets.Â
Trubisky was playing in place of starter Josh Allen, who handed the ball off on the opening play of the game to maintain his streak of 127 consecutive starts, the longest active streak in the NFL.
Since the award began in 2003, FedEx has donated nearly $3 million to nonprofit organizations, charities, and children’s hospitals in the name of the winning players. This season food banks have received more than $100,000.  Â
