CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A former Cincinnati Bengals player is in the hospital after being severely burned.
Jordan Shipley, the Bengals 3rd round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, was in an accident on Tuesday near his hometown of Burnet, Texas, according to a family statement shared by University of Texas Senior Associate Athletics Director John Bianco.
Shipley was working on a machine on his ranch when it caught fire, the family’s statement explains.

The former wide receiver sustained severe burns to his body, but managed to get out and get to a coworker, the family said.
Shipley was driven to a nearby hospital before a medical helicopter flew him to Austin, where he remains in critical condition, according to Shipley’s family.

Shipley spent three seasons in the NFL.
Two of those seasons were in Cincinnati.
He started four games with the Bengals from 2010-2011. Shipley had 56 catches and three touchdowns during his time in Cincinnati.
In 2012, his final NFL season, he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars.
