The Los Angeles Chargers have signed former Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Ben Cleveland just days after the Baltimore Ravens waived him. The Chargers signed Cleveland to their practice squad days before their NFL playoff game at the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 11.
Based on the timing of the move, Cleveland likely won’t have much of a role for the Chargers in the playoffs. However, it is an opportunity for Los Angeles to have more depth and a potential future building block in Cleveland.

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive lineman was a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Cleveland appeared in 10 games with the Ravens in 2025 and has experience playing under Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman. He has played in 64 career NFL games (all with Baltimore).

Baltimore Ravens guard Ben Cleveland (66) looks on during warm ups before the game against the Buffalo Bills in a 2025 AFC divisional round game.
Cleveland has versatility and can play both left or right guard. He also has played a significant amount of special teams snaps in his career. In joining Los Angeles, Cleveland is reunited with Jamaree Salyer, who was one of his former Georgia teammates. Cleveland played at Georgia from 2016-2020. He’s the sort of big, physical player that the Chargers love.
Another reason why Los Angeles added Cleveland is because Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz drafted him back when Hortiz was with the Ravens. Cleveland’s connections to the Chargers could help him earn a future contract with the team.
