The Washington Commanders have a new offensive coordinator, and everything about the job has connections to the Arizona Cardinals. Former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury held the position for the last two seasons, but he and the team parted ways, as he seeks other opportunities. He has been connected to a couple of head coaching positions.

The Commanders have hired a new offensive coordinator to replace him. The new one has connections to the Cardinals. They are making former Cardinals quarterback David Blough their new OC.

Blough started two games for the Cardinals in 2022 when Kingsbury was head coach. He spent the offseason and preseason with the team in 2023. He joined Washington’s offensive staff working with Kingsbury, becoming the assistant quarterbacks coach. After Washington’s quarterbacks coach, Tavin Pritchard, was hired to be Stanford’s head coach, Blough was made the interim quarterbacks coach. He now will run Washington’s offense.

But the connections don’t end there. One of the Commanders’ interviews for the position was with Drew Terrell, who was the Cardinals’ passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for the last three seasons. Terrell was hired off Washington’s coaching staff in 2023.

So, to recap, Washington’s former offensive coordinator was the Cardinals’ former head coach. Their new offensive coordinator is a former Cardinals quarterback who played for the former head coach, and one of the other candidates is was a coach on the Cardinals for the last three seasons.
