In Sunday’s nightcap, the Los Angeles Chargers head to New England to take on the AFC East champion Patriots. Here, we’ll look at both offenses, discussing personnel and player deployment in what could be one of the top matchups of wild-card weekend.

Matt Bowen breaks it down and offers his take, and Liz Loza, Pamela Maldonado and Eric Moody share their best bets, analysis and DFS plays to help you get in on the action.

When the Chargers have the ball

Bowen:The run game with rookie Omarion Hamptonwill always be a priority for coach Jim Harbaugh. Get downhill with the ball. Behind an offensive line impacted by injuries, quarterback Justin Herbert has been sacked 54 times this season, but he will have opportunities versus the Patriots’ single-high coverages.

Edge:Patriots

Best bet:Ladd McConkey OVER 41.5 receiving yards (-110): With the amount of single-high Cover 1 and Cover 3 we should see from the Patriots, McConkey can work underneath, making himself available to Herbert. Plus, the seams are where the Chargers want to go with the ball.

When the Patriots have the ball

Bowen:MVP candidate Drake Maye completed a league-best 72% of his passes this season, and he can play as a ball distributor in Josh McDaniels’ offense versus a zone-based Chargers defense. On the ground, both TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson will see touches, giving the Patriots the ability to attack the perimeter and run between the tackles.

Edge:Patriots

Best bet:Stevenson OVER 38.5 rushing yards (-108): Stevenson has rushed for over 40 yards in five straight games. He’s a downhill hammer with the short-area burst to get through the linebacker level of the defense. Let’s take the over.

Staff picks, best bets and props

Justin Herbert UNDER 1.5 passing TDs (-120)

Maldonado: This is a structural fade, not a talent one. Since losing OTJoe Alt in Week 10, Herbert’s red zone efficiency has collapsed. He is completing barely half his passes inside the 20 and taking sacks instead of throwing it away while carrying one of the highest red zone interception rates among playoff quarterbacks. The Patriots’ defense is solid near the goal line, pointing to field goals and stalled possessions.

Omarion Hampton OVER 10.5 receiving yards (-109)

Loza: Hampton has managed at least 10 receiving yards in six of the nine games he has played this season. Given that the Patriots have struggled to defend short passes, surrendering the fifth-most completions to the RBs (84), Hampton should see enough action to clear the above line.

Ladd McConkey OVER 40.5 receiving yards (-115)

Moody: The Patriots rank among the top 10 defenses in man coverage, which sets up well for McConkey. He leads all Chargers receivers in yards against man coverage and has cleared this line in eight of 16 games played this season. Though the Chargers spread targets around during the regular season, it’s hard not to like McConkey’s chances of topping such a low number given the matchup and circumstances.

Daily fantasy tips for DraftKings Captain Showdown

Loza’s recommendations

Captain (scores 1.5x fantasy points): Omarion Hampton ($13,800). Drake Maye makes a lot of sense here, but Hampton could offer sneaky ROI. New England’s run defense has weakened down the stretch, allowing 4.6 yards per carry to RBs from Weeks 10 through 18 (as opposed to 3.1 in Weeks 1-9). As long as the game script doesn’t get away from him, Hampton, who has found the end zone in three of his past four outings, should rip off a few long runs and potentially flirt with 80 total yards.

Also in my lineup: Hunter Henry ($6,400). It’s a tough matchup, but I’m here for the revenge narrative.

Maldonado’s recommendations

Captain (scores 1.5x fantasy points): Drake Maye ($16,200). Maye’s legs become the equalizer against a Chargers defense built to cap explosive plays. Maye keeps drives alive, converts on third down and punishes light boxes.

Also in my lineup: Stefon Diggs ($9,400) is the connective tissue of the offense. Diggs wins underneath, on crossers and in the red zone. He’ll have volume, trust and leverage situations.br/]
