General manager Mickey Loomis, coach Kellen Moore discuss offseason plans after 6-win season
NNew Orleans Saints

The self-described ‘makeshift New Orleanian’ will serve as Grand Marshal of Pygmalian

  • January 11, 2026

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – After an impressive run under center in the second half of the season for the Saints, NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate Tyler Shough has his team confident in his ability to lead them for the foreseeable future.

That means both the Saints and Shough plan on him being around for the long haul.

In interviews after the Saints’ regular season finale, Shough referred to himself as a “makeshift New Orleanian”, saying he plans to stay in the city through the offseason.

More importantly, Shough expressed his intention to participate in Carnival season for the first time.

How’s the saying go? Something like… “If you love New Orleans, it will love you back…”?

After several attempts to find an heir apparent after the retirement of Drew Brees, hope is high that the 26-year-old rookie who’s had a long, obstacle-filled road to the NFL is the hero New Orleans has been waiting for.

So it’s only right that Shough rides in Carnival.

On Thursday (Jan. 8), it was announced that Shough will serve as the Grand Marshal for the Krewe of Pygmalion parade.

The parade rolls on Sat., Feb. 7, at 6:15 p.m. along its traditional route, starting at the intersection of Jefferson Ave. and Magazine Street. The parade will end at Pygmalion Fest in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, capped off with a performance from superstar DJ Marshmellow.

Shough finished his season 5-4 as a starter, passing for 2,384 yards, and scored 11 touchdowns. The last time a Saints QB was featured during Carnival, Drew Brees served as King of the Bacchus parade in 2010. Brees was also Grand Marshal of Bacchus in 2007.

Shough and his wife Jordan are also expecting their first child in February, marking next month as a landmark one for the Shough family.
