A win by the 49ers on Sunday means they’ll visit the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in the divisional round.
LA snuck past the Carolina Panthers on Saturday afternoon 34-31 to advance. Then in the evening the Chicago Bears won a wild one at Soldier Field 31-27 over the Green Bay Packers to eliminate the No. 7 seed, leaving San Francisco as the lowest-remaining seed in the postseason.
The Seahawks are the No. 1 seed, so they’re set to host the lowest-remaining seed in the divisional playoffs, which now belongs to San Francisco. If the 49ers lose, it’ll be the No. 5 seed Rams going to Seattle for the divisional round while the Bears host the Eagles.
There wasn’t a particularly preferred outcome for San Francisco after Carolina lost Saturday. By virtue of the Panthers losing, it meant the 49ers would either visit Seattle or LA − both clubs that dominated the 49ers in their most recent meetings.
San Francisco did win at Lumen Field back in Week 1. Seattle returned the favor in Week 18 by beating the 49ers 13-3 at Levi’s Stadium.

The 49ers’ wild card game is set to kick off at 1:30pm Pacific Time on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
