The Philadelphia Eagles and the other 31 professional football franchises will soon have organized team activities here. Another checkmark will be placed in the box beside another offseason task. Don’t blink. Time will fly by just as it has during the NFL Draft and each stop we have seen on the journey since Philly’s Super Bowl win and victory parade last February.

Truthfully, the past few months haven’t been stressful at all. Seeing one’s favorite team win a Super Bowl can sometimes have that effect. Optimism was in the air at this same time last season, but no one could have predicted how things turned out.

Here’s the best part. The Birds have the pieces in place to be even better during the 2025-26 season. The vital cogs are back to lead another title run.

One Eagles nominee for every NFL postseason award

Last season, Philly saw six players earn spots on the Pro Bowl roster and six players land on All-Pro Teams. Saquon Barkley was a finalist for the MVP trophy but won Offensive Player of the Year honors as a consolation prize after being snubbed.

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were Defensive Rookie of the Year Award finalists. Vic Fangio was an Assistant Coach of the Year finalist. Zack Baun’s name was mentioned in the DPOY conversation. They were also snubbed at the NFL Honors.

It’s too early to hand out postseason awards for the coming campaign, but what’s the fun in waiting? Here are some way-too-early theories about some of the Eagles who could take home some additional hardware in what we hope is a successful title defense.

Most Valuable Player – Jalen Hurts

This shouldn’t shock anyone. Jalen Hurts continues to prove the doubters wrong. If he can outplay Patrick Mahomes on the NFL’s grandest stage twice (and win the Super Bowl MVP trophy on the second attempt), he can win league MVP during another exciting Eagles regular season.

QB1 was among the favorites deep into the 2022 and 2023 seasons. If he stays healthy, the sky is the limit for an obvious star on an offense with playmakers surrounding him.

Coach of the Year – Nick Sirianni

What a difference a year makes. At this same juncture of the 2024 NFL offseason, Nick Sirianni had one foot out the door. He’s now a Super Bowl-winning head coach who just saw his contract extended, and he deserves the vote of confidence.

Say what you will. If you include what he has done during the postseason, he’s 52-18 as Philly’s head coach. Is it too much to ask that he be awarded a coach of the year trophy he could have won at least three times already?

Assistant Coach of the Year – Vic Fangio

After seeing Vic Fangio befuddle Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs, there’s no reason to believe he can’t again be an assistant coach of the year nominee. With no Ben Johnson standing in his way, it’s feasible to think he can win it this time.

Comeback Player of the Year – Nakobe Dean

No one knows the criteria for being the comeback player of the year. Is it given to someone coming back from injury (Joe Burrow)? Is it a breakout season for someone completely healthy but has been a longtime disappointment (Joe Flacco and Geno Smith)? Is it both?

Nakobe Dean won’t win the trophy. He didn’t get hurt until the postseason, but if he begins the NFL season on the shelf and returns at some point to ball out, that will be good enough for most Eagles outlets and fans to make a compelling argument.

Offensive Player of the Year – Saquon Barkley

After watching Saquon Barkley’s performance last season and seeing him snubbed for the MVP trophy, it has become more apparent than ever that only quarterbacks are allowed to win it.

Who knows if he can equal what he did statistically last season? However, we wouldn’t be shocked if he follows a successful OPOY campaign with another. He’s that good.

Defensive Player of the Year – Zack Baun & Jalen Carter

Zack Baun is amazing. After being considered for the Defensive Player of the Year nod, it was given to someone else. A First-Team All-Pro nod in 2024, he’ll again be in the discussion. Do we even need to state why Jalen Carter gets a mention here?

Offensive Rookie of the Year – Check back for updates

What if ShunDerrick Powell or Montrell Johnson Jr. made this roster? They probably won’t, but what if they did? Can you imagine the buzz they’d create by being surprise home runs?

Again, they probably won’t, but what’s the point of faith if we don’t have any?

Defensive Rookie of the Year

It’s still baffling that, after Howie Roseman landed Jalen Carter AND Nolan Smith in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft, he landed Quinyon Mitchell 22nd overall in 2024. This time, the prize was Jihaad Campbell, a top-15 player Philly landed at 31.

With Nakobe Dean injured, Campbell’s opportunities will come early and often. In Vic Fangio’s scheme, he’ll excel. A spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team is highly likely, and so is a nod as a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Pro Football Hall of Fame class o 2026 – Al Wistert

Al Wistert is one of those guys you’d assume was already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame if you didn’t know any better. Eric Allen’s HOF snub ended last February. It’s time to do the right thing and put Al Wistert in, too.

He’s a 2× NFL champion (1948, 1949), a four-time First-Team All-Pro (1944–1947), a NFL 1940s All-Decade Team member, and a Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame inductee. Again, it’s baffling that he isn’t already in the Hall of Fame. Who knows? Maybe the voters are reading this.
