The Kansas City Chiefs have typically kept their staff intact during their Super Bowl runs. The offseason is only a week old, and already, there are some shake-ups amongst the coaches.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen recently interviewed for the Washington Commanders’ defensive coordinator job. The revelation sparked an immediate response on social media from Pro Bowl defensive lineman Chris Jones.
“He is a great coach. I think he knows the game really well. He’s very personable,” said Chiefs defensive lineman Jerry Tillery during his press conference last training camp, “People forget about the personal aspect of playing this game; we’re all human, and I think we work the best with people we like. Coach (Joe) Cullen is very likable, and so I’m looking forward to working with him outside, on the field. He runs it really well in the drills, and the techniques that we practice show up all over the tape.”

Cullen has been with the Chiefs since 2022, but previously served as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator in 2021.
The Chiefs are already without assistant defensive line coach Alex Whittingham, who departed for the University of Michigan, and they have also fired wide receivers coach Connor Embree.
