After getting bumped to Saturday night in their season finale when the NFC’s No. 1 seed was on the line, the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers will square off on Saturday once again in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The NFL announced top-seeded Seahawks will host the sixth-seeded 49ers in their NFC divisional round matchup on Saturday. The game will be at either 1:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. The start is set to be announced following Monday’s AFC wild card game between the Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers.
TV details for the game will also be revealed at the conclusion on Monday’s game. As always, the radio broadcast can be heard on Seattle Sports 710 AM and KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM, starting with the pregame show at least three hours prior to kickoff.
The winner of the third matchup this season between the NFC West rivals will advance to the NFC championship game. The Seahawks last reached the NFC title game during the 2014 playoffs. The 49ers are looking to make it back for the fifth time since the 2019 postseason.
While the Seahawks will be coming off an extended break after having a first-round bye, the banged-up 49ers will have a short week after knocking off the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 23-19 in the wild card round on Sunday. It will be the third game on short rest over the past four for San Francisco, which lost seven-time Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle for the rest of its playoff run to a torn Achilles on Sunday.
Seattle and San Francisco split their season series this year. The 49ers won 17-13 in Seattle during Week 1 as quarterback Brock Purdy led a game-winning, 68-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. The Seahawks smother San Francisco in the rematch during Week 18, holding the 49ers to their fewest points (three) and total yards (173) in a game under ninth-year coach Kyle Shanahan during a 13-3 road win to clinch the NFC West title and No. 1 seed.
