NFL players, including members of the Jaguars, are now permitted to participate in flag football in the 2028 Olympics.

NFL players can now participate in the 2028 Olympics.

At the Spring League Meeting on Wednesday, owners voted 32-0 to allow NFL players to participate in flag football during the next summer Olympics.

As noted by NFL.com, a maximum of one player per team can be allowed to participate in the Olympics, along with any International Pathway Players (IPP) for their respective countries. As it pertains to the Jaguars, wide receiver Louis Rees-Zammit is Jacksonville’s designated IPP.

In October of 2023, the International Olympic Committee voted to make flag football an official sport. 10-man rosters will be selected by each participating country.

The next step for the NFL is to negotiate arrangements with the NFLPA. Other details include injury protection and salary cap credits for teams if a player were to get injured.

The 2028 Olympics will take place in Los Angeles from July 14th through the 30th.

Some current Jaguars who could make some noise on the flag football field include Trevor Lawrence, Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, and Bhayshul Tuten.
