The Washington Commanders parted ways with both offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. after a disappointing 5-12 season.

The Commanders took a step back on both sides of the ball this season, but injuries can certainly be blamed for some of the struggles. Kingsbury, in particular, is still highly thought of in league circles and may not have to wait long to find his next job.

On Sunday, NFL insider Mike Garafolo provided an update on Kingsbury’s prospects. The coach has scheduled interviews with the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans for their head coach jobs. Garafolo mentioned that Kingsbury is also an offensive coordinator candidate for several teams, and some potential head coaches would like to bring Kingsbury on as OC.

“Kingsbury is still in the mix for a head coaching job,” Garafolo explained. “The Ravens and the Titans have requested interviews. There are some head coaches that are interviewing who have Kingsbury potentially lined up as offensive coordinator.”

Garafolo mentioned that the Ravens are searching for a head coach and offensive coordinator who will work best with star quarterback Lamar Jackson. It makes sense, then, that Kingsbury would be a candidate, given the coach’s work with Kyler Murray and Jayden Daniels.

Baltimore could certainly be tempting for Kingsbury, as he would stay in the DMV and get work with an immediate playoff-caliber roster.

The Titans also make sense due to the presence of Cam Ward. Ward impressed as a rookie, even with questionable coaching and a bad roster. A quarterback guru like Kingsbury could truly unlock Ward’s potential, and the coach could be intrigued by the prospect of developing the young passer.
