(WLUK) — A documentary detailing the on-field heroics and off-field scandals of star Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was released Tuesday.

Netflix partnered with Front Office Sports to release “The Fall of Favre” — a one-hour feature telling the story of Favre’s complicated legacy. It’s part of Netflix’s “Untold” sports documentary series.

“This eye-opening documentary delves into Brett Favre’s controversial career, the dark side of sports stardom and the scandals that marred his legacy,” the description on Netflix reads. “‘He was treated like a god.’ This documentary reveals the dark side of Brett Favre’s rise to football stardom — and the ugly scandals that took him down.”

A variety of hot-button topics are featured throughout the film.

Jenn Sterger, the woman at the center of Favre’s sexting scandal, is interviewed in the documentary, saying, “Brett Favre ultimately destroyed my life.”

In 2008, she accused the quarterback of harassment, which included Favre allegedly sending her explicit pictures of himself. At the time, Sterger was a game-day host for the Jets when Favre was playing for New York.

The NFL determined Favre didn’t violate workplace conduct rules, but Favre admitted to sending Sterger voicemails. In the trailer, Sterger is seen playing one of them. Favre can be heard asking her if he can “come over tonight.”

Front Office Sports has previously referred to Favre as “the womanizing, hard-partying QB whose secrets were fiercely protected in provincial Green Bay.” The documentary puts his habits on full display, showing moments of heavy drinking and partying. Favre is known for having an addiction to alcohol and painkillers.

The documentary also delves into the Mississippi welfare scandal.

Favre was allegedly part of a fraud scheme resulting in the misuse of $77 million in funds earmarked to go toward helping families in need. Instead, that money was linked to paying for projects including a volleyball facility at the University of Southern Mississippi, Favre’s alma mater.

“You take money intended for the poorest. I don’t know how he sleeps at night,” one of the interview subjects says in the documentary’s trailer.

While testifying at a congressional committee meeting in September of last year about this misuse of funds, Favre revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
