Texans vs. Steelers betting preview
The Pittsburgh Steelers are lucky to be here after seeing a field goal sail wide on the final play of their AFC North showdown with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18. The Steelers (10-7) had seen the extra point blocked after a touchdown with under a minute left, but Pittsburgh’s fortune gives quarterback Aaron Rodgers another shot at at playoff glory. The Super Bowl 45 MVP and four-time league MVP now faces one of the NFL’s best defenses. Houston (12-5) allows 277.5 yards, fewest in the NFL, and 17.4 points per game (second-fewest) and has 47 sacks (T-7). The unit is the reason the Texans won nine in a row to finish the season, as they yielded 21 points or fewer in seven of those. The offense averages 23.8 points, slightly more than Pittsburgh’s 23.4, but the Steelers D allows 22.8 (17th).
Rodgers has thrown for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns, with seven interceptions, and running backs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell have helped keep the pressure off the future Hall of Famer. Warren has 958 rushing yards and 1,291 overall, while Gainwell has 1,022 total yards, and they have combined for 16 touchdowns. Both teams are adept at taking the ball away, as Houston has forced 29 turnovers and is plus-17 in turnover margin, second-best in the NFL, and Pittsburgh has 27 takeaways and is plus-12 (fourth).
