The Arizona Cardinals fired Jonathan Gannon as their head coach last week on Monday following a 3-14 season in which they lost 14 of their final 15 games, including nine straight to end the year. However, he already has some opportunities, both as a head coach and as a defensive coordinator.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Gannon has three interviews lined up this week.
He is set to interview with the Tennessee Titans for their head coaching vacancy, and will also interview for defensive coordinator positions with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.
Gannon, of course, is familiar with the NFC East and AFC South. He was defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021-2022 and was a cornerbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 2018-2020.
If Gannon lands somewhere for this coming season, it will limit the financial obligation the Cardinals will have. With two years remaining in his contract with Arizona, head coach contracts typically include salary offset language, which makes it so a coach doesn’t get paid two salaries. Whatever his salary would be in 2026 and 2027 with some other team would decrease what the Cardinals need to pay him.
