Jason Kelce will always be considered a Philadelphia Eagles legend, make no mistake about it. That doesn’t mean the fans have to always agree with him though.

During this week’s edition of “Monday Night Countdown,” Kelce talked about the Eagles losing to the San Francisco 49ers on Wild Card weekend. Nick Sirianni’s offense struggled despite being fully rested, scoring just 19 points against a defense that has been decimated by injuries this season. Jalen Hurts completed 20-of-35 passes for 168 yards with a touchdown. A.J. Brown, meanwhile, had a few crucial drops that could’ve swung the game in Philadelphia’s favor.

Countless fans placed the blame for Sunday’s loss on Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. After all, the offense struggled under his command all season long. Kelce, however, refuses to just throw his former coach under the bus.

“I know that everybody is out on Kevin Patullo, I happen to know the guy, I love Kevin Patullo. I know he’s a great coach. I know it wasn’t the best performance this year offensively,” Kelce said. “They had the No. 1 highest-paid offense in the league and were mediocre across the board. That’s unacceptable. They had their chances to win that game yesterday, and they—the players—didn’t make the plays.”

Philadelphia fans fired back at Kelce’s take, claiming it’s ridiculous to defend Patullo’s work this season.

“How are you defending his play-calling,” one fan replied.

“Lmao guarantee the coach on the other side could have schemed somebody actually open on that 4th down,” a second fan argued.

“We get what you’re saying Kelce but that doesn’t change the fact that we all saw with our own eyes how the plays looked this year,” another fan wrote. “They didn’t do our guys any favors.”

Will the Eagles fire Kevin Patullo?

After the Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday, Sirianni was asked about Patullo’s future with the team. He was unwilling to make any guarantees.

“There will be time to evaluate everybody’s performance,” Sirianni said, via Pro Football Talk. “Right now, I feel for all our guys in the locker room, all the players, all the coaches, the front office, everybody that works so hard, the fans that come out and support us, Mr. [team owner Jeffrey] Lurie. I feel for all of us, all of them, and there’ll be time to evaluate everything coming up.”

Patullo has been with the Eagles since 2021, serving as the pass game coordinator for four years before landing the offensive coordinator gig.

At this point, we fully expect Philadelphia to have a new offensive play-caller in 2026.
